All Nippon Airways (ANA),
the first carrier to use the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a commercial
route, has cancelled all flights with the aircraft until at least the
end of May.

The
announcement, which will see 1,700 flights called off, comes five weeks
after international regulators grounded all Dreamliner services so that
safety checks on the aircraft’s lithium batteries could be carried out.
The decision to ground the planes followed a series of incidents, and means a total of 3,600 ANA flights have now been affected.
Other
airlines due to launch flights using the aircraft have made similar
announcements. Last week United Airlines cancelled all its Dreamliner
flights until June 5 – barring the Denver-Tokyo route provisionally
scheduled for launch on May 12. Poland's national airline LOT has said
it would not use the 787 before October and is seeking compensation from
Boeing.
