AirAsia Group has announced a 13 percent increase in passengers carried during the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2011.

The airline group carried up to 8.285 million passengers during the three months this year, up from 7.347 million in 2011.

The carrier’s operations in Thailand saw the largest increase in passengers with 20 percent more boarding AirAsia flights while its Indonesian operations jumped 15 percent and Malaysia increased by 10 percent.


Over the three months, capacity also climbed by 13 percent for the entire group, while load factor dipped by one percent from 80 percent to 79 percent.
